Several of Austria’s most popular motorcycle routes can be reached within an hour from Villach. The terrain is dense, varied and – depending on the route chosen – sometimes gentle and sometimes technically demanding.

The Villach Alpine Road up the Dobratsch starts right on the doorstep – the start is just a few minutes away from harry’s home. The 16.5-kilometre-long panoramic road climbs around 1,200 meters up to over 1,700 m above sea level and offers one of the best viewpoints in Carinthia.
Yes, there is a motorcycle driving ban on the Nockalm Road between 6 pm and 8 am. This is not a problem for day trips – the route is freely accessible during the day from the beginning of May to the end of October. Current opening times and information: nockalmstrasse.at

Villach and Lienz can be connected on several routes: via the Drautal Straße (relaxed, picturesque), the Gailbergstraße via the Gailbergsattel and the Gailtal (winding, quieter) and the Weißensee Straße (idyllic). If you want to add the highlight, plan a detour via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
The Nockalm Road is open from the beginning of May to the end of October. A winter closure applies until the beginning of May. Motorcycles are allowed to drive between 8:00 and 18:00 – outside of this time a motorcycle driving ban applies. Further information: nockalmstrasse.at
